Twenty Twenty Ends

It was Christmas Eve
in the year Twenty Twenty
Believe you, me
it had been rough for so many

A global pandemic
posed global restriction
Everyone forced home
to avoid adding affliction

Shelves stripped empty
as people became frantic
Toilet paper was knighted
in bare bum clenched panic

And whilst the year did
finally drew curtain
We felt that the virus
showed no signs for certain

Oh the year Twenty Twenty
- did we learn a lot?
To love and appreciate
a lesson sure not forgot

Now Christmas Day
could not be as planned
But we fought and could smile
two metres hand in hand

Merry Christmas ~

#sell #that #story

We see so many people
posting pictures, looking pretty
Bodies on show
abs, boobs and butts
Beggin' for worth
does our self suffer much?

We hear so many people
rant, rave and review
Talking very loud
teeth white like tissue
Chomping away at likes
the perfect smile well bought?

We touch so many people
our content - have you thought?

Ghost Runner

You left before it began

Not near
Not far
Just ran

When I hear from you my blood joins the race
And my heart

What's left
Runs away

Kickstarter

Rolling back the shoulders
a scratch on the head
Feet hit the ground
sliding warmth out the bed
Gone body and mind
tensions felt yesterday
Refreshed and rinsed off
possibilities make way

Flicking on the kettle
spare time for a kick
Learnt by yourself
appreciation is the trick
Outside rouses on
breathing zest everywhere
Walking free with a smile
and that fond friendly flair

Air

We were young when we got told
the air we breathe is free
All deserving of our place here
sits well with you and me

We go to school to learn
looking back I felt such glee
To read, and write and expand
the mind buzzed like a bee

Then you start to notice
those things you didn't see
Not everyone is lucky
stumbling around all so carefree

Children denied the chance
what shapes who we can be?
The air that fills our lungs
can limit our full capacity

Passing by

walks lag
in the centre of nothing
shops close
and that guy wants change

going places
they move so quickly
trains don't stop
to pick him on the way

bottle in hand
sounds start to echo
his head wet
giving company to night

a stranger's hand
but will he accept it?
crawling out
into the thick of life

Can I do it?

I tried once before
- couldn't really do it.

Like the plague, I avoided
- as they all knew it.

Told to keep going
- at most I didn't feel it.

So left it all behind
-  allowing them to steal it.

Knock backs happen
-  doesn't mean I blown it.

Like a tree, I stand
- they see it when shown it.

I don't stop now
- never think of it.

Reaching the very end
- alive and I love it.

Drift

I rest my
head
on my pillow
and
let
my thoughts
sink
in

My pillow
never questions
as I
slowly
wear
thin

Gum

You opened up
and took me by the lips
It felt so soft
a taste I couldn't miss

I was sweet
and you got sticky
But all those flavours
resisting was tricky

So the more you chew
and the harder I bite
We got tangled up
leaving me spat to the side

..said the granny in the corner.

Two and one, twenty one,
perfect age, have fun, go on.
"Oh did I" said the granny in the corner,
tipsy on gin whilst smoking with Lorna.

Six and nine, sixty nine,
cannot remember that last kinda time.
"Nor do I" said the granny in the corner,
once got risky in the local town sauna.

All the eights, eighty eight,
try to eat healthy and try to watch weight.
"As did I" said the granny in the corner,
now not bothered about food to order.
